ABOUT

I am a Bondi guitar player and vocalist looking for a regular (local) musical project to invest energy in.

I have plenty of experience as a musician, mostly garnered in the Sydney indie scene of the late 80's and 90's. However, while my acoustic guitar has never been far from my hand, work and family have been my priorities over the last decade or so. Recently though I've been playing a lot and jamming: this seems to increasingly give rise to a deep need to find a new musical collaboration to sink my teeth back into.

My main thing is electric and acoustic guitar but I'm fairly handy on a microphone as well, either as a harmonist or (subject to the grey matter remembering the lyrics) the main vocalist. I've dabbled in multi-instrumentalism in the past and the layer of dust on the dobro could be cleaned off fairly easily; maybe the mandolin and harmonicas as well.

I usually have a couple of new tunes I'm tinkering with but lyrics don't come as easily as the melodies and chords. In the past I have enjoyed collaborating on new songs.

I think it would be fair to describe my level of musicianship as excellent and I'm looking to hook up with good players who hopefully can also sing harmonies and who aren't miles away from Bondi. Lately I have been jamming with some great local musos, tinkering with a variety of styles, but we would very much like to hear from a local bass player to join us down the Pavillion studios of a midweek evening. The Satan tune is the output from one of those evenings...

Influences

My influences are eclectic and wide ranging. However, I would like to focus on something rootsy, melodic and involving real drums.

That could include one, some, or all of the following: - alt country, rootsy blues, or maybe something modern and melodic based around harmonies and the killer chime of my Vox AC15. Happy to do covers within a roots type theme but at least a few original songs would be nice. Or perhaps I mean the other way round?

Something reflecting a mature outlook and which my friends would enjoy ....
