ABOUT

This Is Not An Exit is a one-off performance project under the Old Man Action banner. I’m forming a band to play seven original songs at Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville in May 2026, marking my 60th birthday, with a possible recording to follow.

I’m a singer, songwriter, and bassist from Brooklyn. I spent ten years in the New York music scene, playing original songs in a handful of grunge and gothic-funk bands as both a bassist and frontman.

The sound is inspired by mid-to-late 2000s Williamsburg indie power trio, with big, rhythm-heavy guitar.

A nice swing, a tight groove, and a crisp pocket are key to the vibe.

About the material:
There are three big ro rock songs, a couple of sample-heavy tracks with electronic influences, and a down-tempo, ethereal ballad in the style of David Bowie or Khalid. The songs are at different stages of arrangement, from finished to just ideas. I’m open to collaboration and creative input for the live show.

Who I’m looking for:
I’m looking for a bassist who is comfortable with both picking and playing chords, can provide melodic basslines, and is willing to collaborate on arrangements. The drummer should be able to create polyrhythms, lock in grooves and tempo, and support dynamic changes. For guitar, I need a lead player who can deliver a big, rhythm-driven sound, handle solos, and help create a power-trio feel. The Keys/Ableton player will need to add textural layers, trigger samples, and assist with integrating electronic elements. A background vocalist is needed to add harmonies, support lead lines, and contribute creatively to vocal arrangements.

This is a passion project, but given the project's needs, I am leaning toward a professional, freelance setup.

I have a small Budget for the Lazy Bones gig, and I am open to bartering my videography services in exchange for rehearsal and recording services. (Cinematographer, Shooter, Producer Showreel: https://tinyurl.com/amoreel )

The schedule would look like: (Dates TBC)

Late Feb - Auditions/ vibe check.
Mid and Late Mar - 2 rehearsals.
Late April - 1 or 2 rehearsals.
First week of May - Lazy Bones Lounge
June - Recording TBC

If you are interested in joining the project, please get in touch so we can discuss the details further.
