The Origin Of Janken

Where it all started
Origin Of Janken began in 2009 with founding members Brad, Jamie ,Sixo And Nox.
Origin of Janken had a hard hitting, high energy grunge funk sound and before long they where hitting the stage with some of Australia's Best bands, Behind Crimson Eyes, Mammal, Juke Kartel, and Bellusira to name a few.
Over a few years, Origin Of Janken gained a large following, which lead them to recording a ep. titled "Incendia"
12 months on keys/bass player Sixo left to pursue a career in of the parts of the music industry and Rickuss joined as the new bass player. Sixo did keep apart of of the writing process and continued to support Nox with the return of the band in 2013.
OOJ continued to perform large shows nationally leading up to 2012 when the band appeared on "Australia's Got Talent". The Band was given a yes from all 3 judges, however, did not get through the finals.
In late 2012 OOJ members decided to go separate ways and go onto to other music projects
.....But that was not the End Of OOJ

The Return
The New "Origin of Janken Or “Janken” for Short
2013 with the push from Origin Of Janken fans, Nox Redman made the call to Reform the Band with a new line Up.
Nox spent almost a year collecting artists that would fit the mould and vision of OriginOf Janken and finally came up with the formula for success adding:
Duncan (Bass, Vocals Experimental Bass art )
Jay ( Guitars engineer/synths/experiments)
The band is now a Fully Functional machine, band members all bring different influences to the writing and performing process giving Origin Of Janken their unique sound.
A combination of traditional heavy metal matched with digital instruments allows the band to introduce the new sound that is being loved by the old fans and an increasing number of new fans. Tech, HipHop, Dubstep, and EDM are some of the underlying genres that are sampled into the mix.
The band has spent the last four months writing and recording new tracks while rehearsing all the OOJ Classics. There is no doubt Origin Of Janken have succeeded in creating a sound built for big shows and stages.
After the Killer responses from the release of 'Vesuvius' in early 2014.

The story of Origin Of Janken has only just begun!

Shaun - Nox Redman
The Showman
Born and raised in the Western Suburbs of Sydney Australia , Shaun A Robinson AKA Nox Redman, is the frontman of Origin Of Janken.
Im told from 9 months of age I used the TV to support me while I watched head bangers & sang to the music show Rage.
I can remember when I was about 6 years old, I was always Sneaking in and listening to my Mums Vinyl Records. When she was outside I would put them on and start Rocking out (Broom in hand) to Twisted Sister "Where not gonna take it "and the Film Clip sold Me.
It was at this moment that I knew I wanted to be a big part of the music industry.
Ever since then I have been working hard to build a machine capable of world domination. I call it Origin Of Janken.
The Frontman Journey. The Evolution Of OOJ!
In my late Teens and Early 20s, I finally built up my courage and started singing in competitions doing whatever I could to be heard and to get my Voice out there.
I won a few competitions and have been asked to sing for Mayor Paul Pisasale. That was a great honour.
I was bout 24 and still singing in small little competitions and talent quests. All that was just nowhere near enough for me...... It was a great way to build my confidence, but it was time too move on, start looking for bands and look to something greater.
At the age of 25, I moved to the Central Coast NSW to make a fresh start and checked out what the music scene was like there.
It took me a while to settle in, at the time I took up a Job driving taxis. The only Taxi Driver on the Coast With a mohawk and white Contacts!
Not long after starting Cab Driving I found a band that needed a singer. ( OOJ )
It was then I Became the frontman for Origin of janken, we started writing and playing shows almost immediately .
Due to Creative difference's . We decided to go our own ways and went on to endeavour other music projects.
12 months on I was hounded by friends and fans of OOJ to get It back to the stage.
As the past members where busy with their new Project. I started looking for new members. It took a little while to find the right recipe but i did it! To this date Im still rocking out with my killer band!
I'm enjoying music more then ever. For my Band Origin Of Janken the sky's the limit.
In the last 12 months I have also had the opportunity to take up some acting opportunities.
I landed my self a roll in a Tv show Bogan Hunter set to air in April 2014 on 7mate (Free To Air TV Au)
This has opened a door for me and I am now embracing it.
The producer, cast and crew have made me feel like part of the family and I enjoy working with them.

Jason
Jay Kaos - multi-instrumentalist - multi-alter ego
Music is Jason's inspiration, life source and heart beat. A genre bending shapeshifter with many faces.
In 2002, Jay played guitar for multiple bands, A little later on he embraced the influence of heavy music and the rock/metal lifestyle and created his Hard Dance Genre Dj show. In 2006 he took to the stages as Jay Kaos. He was successful from the first show with promoters and club owners securing future bookings that night.
Six years later, with the evolution of the digital world, as vinyl turntables disappeared and electronic tools became more accessible and embraced by musicians and audiences, Jason began to experiment with melding musical styles and genres, creating an new and unique sound that was eagerly embraced by his fans.
In 2012, Jay Kaos joined New Zealand band 'Sick Section' who won the New Zealand Music Awards. The band had a heavy gritty sound, Jay added his unique digital flavour, not only on lead guitar but automating shows with backing FX, programmed drums and experimenting with digital tools on stage. The band went on to record at Trend Def Studios in Hollywood, California with Mike Gonsolin under management from Jeff Blue. Unfortunately, creative differences resulted in the band members moving forward independently, each perusing their own musical interests.
As the music industry changed in Australia so did Jason. In 2013 Jay Essassin was born. This was also the birth of Kaos Labs Studio, Sydney. Throughout 2013 Kaos Labs was a creative hub producing EDM tunes, recording bands and designing sound. Up to this point, Jay had been learning and developing his production skills and focussing on large performances. Under the Jay Essassin name a new show was brought to the stage Dj'ing EDM and trance tunes while playing live guitar, synth and drums.
Kaos Labs has had some incredible output to date, creating music for the LFL Australia team NSW Surge promo videos, releasing eps. with the amazing Majik Honey, along with collaborations with other artists pop, hip hop artists and producing tracks with bands.
Recently, Jay worked in the studio recording a new song written by Origin Of Janken. The band discussed Jay laying down some synth tracks and playing shows with them. It was a successful creative partnership that soon led to Jay Kaos becoming an official family member of Origin Of Janken, bringing his hard hitting, twisted alter ego to the stage once more! Adding digital percussion, FX, hits and Synths to the powerhouse sound of one of Australia's best live bands.
Origin Of Janken has already undertaken an amazing journey to get to where it is today and a new path lies ahead... one thing we know for sure.... This is only the beginning!

Duncan Grieves
Keten
Duncan Grieves is the man behind the Keten mask. Duncan was born on the Central Coast in 1984.
Duncan got his first guitar when he was 14 and was shown a few chords, but never really got into the guitar so it was put down for a few years. During High School when Duncan was now 17 he met some musos and was taught some more chords and some riffs. Duncan now had the thirst.
On Duncans 18th Birthday he was given an electric Guitar and joined his first band - Social Disease
Duncan learnt the Guitar and played music such Nirvana, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Sepultura and Black Sabbath. Eventually Duncan began to write music.
After Social Disease Duncan then started a band with another friend from high Called Project-X. Duncan wanted an alter ego for this band. He did not want to be himself when performing and designed a more creative image.
Duncan came up with an acronym ... and K-E-T-E-N was born. Just one more element was needed for this character - a face!
Duncan aka Keten played guitar for several bands during 2001 to 2005. It wasn't until 2005 that he picked up the bass guitar for the first time. A band that was just starting up were at their first practice waiting for the bass player to arrive... He never did! So Duncan picked up the bass, plugged it into the amp, and never looked back.
Duncan's insane personality known as Keten slowly faded away and in 2008 he hit his last note on stage and said to himself - never again. Duncan took a break from bands for a few years. He occasionally picked up the guitar and bass but the hunger for it was gone.
During those years he saw quite a few live bands and the passion was starting to come out again. It was Duncan's mother - who always expressed her pride in her eldest son - who often told him that she would love to see him in a band and performing on stage again. In December of 2012 Duncan's mother sadly passed away. So with the passion of music rising and the drive of wanting to make his mothers wish come true, Duncan actively pursued his dream by researching the local music scene.
At the beginning of 2013 he was contacted by Nox who informed him that his band was in need of a bassist. The timing was perfect! So once again, Duncan picked up the bass. After many rehearsals and recording new material, Duncan thought that the music and the vibe that OOJ were bringing out was perfect for the return - of the mad man KeTeN!
Some of his Influences and Inspirations for the Bass include:
Twiggy Ramirez, Nikki Sixx, Fieldy, Les Claypool, Ryan Martinie, Steve Harris and Flea
