Background:
Hi, i'm JP. I am a passionate musician who has been playing music for over 25 years. I started playing the violin when I was seven years old. After a couple of years of playing the violin I moved onto playing the trumpet, which I played for approximately 14 years. I played in various orchestras and ensembles, including some tours around Europe (when I lived in the UK). When I was eighteen I started playing the drums (initially to improve my rhythm) and since then I haven't looked back.
I think my grounding in melodic instruments provides me with a unique edge to playing drums. I try to approach drum parts by phrasing the parts appropriately and really attempting to compliment what the other musicians in the band are playing. I'm not an egotistical person and don't need to be centre stage. I don't like to clutter my playing with lots of unnecessary athletic fills.
I have experience playing in a heap of different bands and genres. I have studio experience and always practice to a click at home (my primary job as drummer is timekeeping so I need to be good at it). I currently play drums in a heavy metal band called Katana Cartel. I'll have posted up links to their stuff so you can hear one aspect of my playing style.

I'm looking to be more active in the Melbourne music scene weather that be joining other bands or being a session music for studio work. Please feel free to hit me up if you are looking for a drummer is also a musician.

Influences

I listen to a heap of music (too much to list hear). I find that listening to lots of music provides me with the ability to come up with interesting and musically tasteful drum parts that will suit the type of music that i'm playing.
