ABOUT

JI live in Claremont and can be contacted at 0422 603 742 Just in it for fun but been playing since I was 16. Knock around Fremantle Perth and Balga mainly. The GarageBand sample is thrown together,. Like to work on bluesy grooves and write songs. Play electric guitar based on finger style blues rock with a bit of Chicago and Mississippi Hill Country style thrown in. Maybe I am trying to sound like Junior Kimbrough mixed with Lou Reed. Would like to meet solid elderly bass player and also drummer, possibly others, on similar wavelength and have some fun do jams and open mics round Perth. Don't have to be maestros - I'm certainly not one. Keeping good time and sounding cool and funky is the main thing. Happy with avoiding loads of gear and not being too flash. Still standing upright. You only iive once. Never say die. I have a Macbook/GarageBand based four track setup to practice in headphones and record.

Influences

Many influences but I always say (electric) blues. Chicago and North Missiissipi attract me Muddy and Kimbrough but I like Lou Reed and southern rock too. I write a lot of my stuff, play an elective finger drone style and can manage simple solo fills in between vocals. I need a strong inventive bass player to jam in the solo breaks.

EQUIPMENT

Epiphone Casino Coupe (because it's light I would prefer a Sheraton) a busker amp with voice input and overdrive on guitar input. My four input interface with Garage Band for headphone live practice could create a practice space without bugging the neighbors. I tend to use Garage Band settings in the headphone set up and like British Warm (Vox?) for rhythm and Fat Amp or Brute Blues for lead. At the moment to do writing and arranging I dub in my own Ibanez bass guitar (limited0 plus drum pad recording off a mini midi keyboard. I want to play live with a pure bass player and drummer. If we got it going I would want to add people to take solos and do harmonies but think a trio would work with what Ive got.
