We're looking for a versatile female vocalist from the Brisbane or Sunshine Coast regions for our band, Aspect. Aspect is an alternative rock band with young members (17, 18, 19 and 19), so we would prefer someone around our age, and we hold meetings/rehearsals at least once a week at JMC Academy in Brisbane (and occasionally in Mountain Creek on the Sunshine Coast).
Two of us live on the Sunshine Coast and two in Brisbane, however the band is based in Brisbane, as that's where we are now rehearsing. We have almost two full albums of original music written, and now we just need to round out the band so that we can look to do gigs and performances and have a career.
The band currently comprises, lead guitarist, a rhythm guitarist, a bass/ keyboard player and a drummer. Majority of the music and lyrics have been written by the bass/ keyboard player, any future music that we write will be more of a collaboration, so if you’re a songwriter (or at least write your own lyrics), that’s great, but if you’re not and you’re happy just to trust in the music/lyric writing style of the other members of the band, that’s also great.
The music is inspired by/sounds like bands such as Metallica, Foo Fighters and Coldplay, and takes elements/inspiration from a variety of genres. Some of it's lighter, some heavier, some more upbeat and some mellow - it's a real mixed bag, and some of the vocal parts are reasonably high, which is why my preference is to have a female vocalist with a reasonably large vocal range. A background in music theory isn't essential, but definitely helpful.
As most people who have contacted in the past seem to have a problem with time and/or distance/travelling, please don’t enquire about the band if either is going to be an issue for you. As someone who wants to do this for a career, I would expect someone who wants the same thing to be able to make things work/happen, either by having a flexible/clear enough schedule or being able to accommodate for it.
