ABOUT
Meanjin/Brisbane outfit Torizon proudly defines themselves as a “petalcore” act, fusing metalcore and alt-metal elements with the infectious hooks of pop music. Unafraid to explore the full spectrum of human emotion, their music is anchored by downtuned riffs, propulsive rhythms, vibrant synth arrangements, and vocals oscillating between raw vulnerability and fierce intensity, cascading melodies and cathartic screams.
This year has seen Torizon release a slew of singles aimed at shedding light on the challenges of infertility. These were warmly received by Music Feeds, Backseat Mafia, The Music, HEAVY Mag, Apple Music's 'Breaking Hard Rock', 'The Riff' (AU/NZ), 'New In Rock' (AU/NZ) and 'Bring The Noise' (NZ), with 'Bloom' amassing over 10,000 Spotify streams within the first week. The tracks also received radio support from triple j, Unearthed and Australian community stations such as 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, SYN Media, Edge Radio, 2SER, and PBS FM.
Mish was also a panel speaker alongside Emmy Mack (RedHook), Monica Strut (The Last Martyr) and Lauren Coleman (Aurateque), spotlighting minorities in the heavy music industry. The panel was a part of UsFest at The Landsdowne, Sydney's 100th birthday celebration.
In the live arena, Torizon have packed hometown headline shows and shared stages with Circles, Valhalore, The Last Martyr, Days Like These, These Four Walls, Aurateque and NTH RD. This October, the band will bring their high-impact performances to the East Coast for their first-ever headline tour. Joined by Naarm/Melbourne's alt-metal outfit New Million, the tour will stop in Eora/Sydney, Naarm/Melbourne, and Meanjin/Brisbane and will also feature local, heavy acts from each city.
