ABOUT
Hey, my name's SELBY (Selby Targett), and I’m a 17 year old indie pop artist and multi-instrumentalist based in Hobart, blending indie pop, alternative pop and modern country into energetic, heartfelt live shows. I’ve been performing for five years and released my debut single in September 2024. Since then, I’ve built a strong local presence through originals and covers, performing solo acoustic, with a loop station, in duos, and with a full band. I’ve played major Tasmanian stages including Party in the Paddock (Little Island Stage), A Festival Called George, Republic Bar, Altar Bar, and Franko’s Festival, and opened for The Wolfe Brothers at sold out shows. I was also selected as keyboardist for Alex Lloyd on his 2025 Tasmanian tour.
My originals combine relatable storytelling with strong melodies and dynamic arrangements. My releases include Out of Sight and Rome was Built to Fall, and I’m currently working toward my debut EP, with new music on the way. In 2025, I won the Acoustic Section of Rock Challenge Tasmania, and previously placed 2nd nationally in the under 18 category of the Speak Up Song Competition. I’ve entered Triple J Unearthed High twice, receiving strong feedback, and have been featured on Edge Radio Hobart and ABC Hobart. As an independent, self managed artist, I’m looking to connect with committed musicians who want to create powerful live shows and build something long term.
