Early 40s gay gay (only mentioning this so you don't reach out if that's going to be an issue) on the northside. Haven't been in a band for about a decade now, and haven't properly gigged for a bit longer than that. I'm a bassist and guitarist, though looking for slightly different things for each.
What I'm looking for as a bassist:
Originals/covers: mainly interested in something on the heavier side (prog would be a bonus!), but will consider classic rock and stuff like that for a working band. Try me if you have an idea outside of this, though.
Tribute band: only interested in this for one of my influences.
What I'm looking for as a guitarist:
Originals band: open to playing anything that's interesting and/or has something to say. Particularly interested in stuff that blends genres.
Cover band: open to playing most stuff.
Tribute band: probably only interested in doing this for one of my influences. Feel free to reach out and try though if you have an idea.

Influences
While there are heaps of bands/artists that I'm influenced by, the main ones would be Metallica, Kiss, Dream Theater, Haken, Kyuss and Pantera.
Other bands I like include: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Pink Floyd, Scissor Sisters, Air, Leprous, Mildlife, Muse, Led Zepplin, Blondie, Powderfinger, The Beatles, Dire Straits, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.
Realistically, I love almost every type of music, probably the only outs for me are death metal types (growly vocals are basically an instant out for me) and some country - I can get into and enjoy basically everything else.

EQUIPMENT
Several guitars (Gibson LP and Ibanez RG550 are my mains, have several others including an 8-string) and basses (Fender Jazz, ESP LTD B-206SM which is my main 6-string, etc.), decent effects board. As for amps, I have a smaller guitar amp (Marshall Code50) but a decent bass rig (Fender Rumble 500). I'm able to purchase whatever is needed for the right opportunity/situation.
