Recently relocated to Brisbane i was Raised in the Nation’s Capital, from a young age i was involved in Country music, Thanks to a heavy influence from his mother who encouraged him to continue to perform through his teen years when it “wasn’t cool to play country”.
Coming through the ranks of the local Country Music club Rod would often spend hours on stage providing backing music for other singers ,this would work in his favour in years to come as he became part of several backing bands for Talent Quests in the Southern NSW Region.
A founding member of 90’s Country band “The JD Brothers” After performing together for several yearsI then made the move to play in local Rock cover Bands,
Although never losing his country sound he was always destined to get back to his roots.
I have also played alongside the likes of Troy Cassar-Daly, Lee Kernaghan & Keith Urban, but he names the highlight of his musical career as co-producing his mum Di Flynn’s album.
Rod fulfilled his lifelong dream of going to Nashville 2012, whilst there he was a guest artist on local Nashville singer/songwriter Rob Skaggs.
Reason behind my move to QLD was to take up an offer of playing Lead Guitar with a local Singer/Songwriter which is a long term project, But i am looking to fill in the gaps when i am not commited with this project, So if you are looking for a fill in that plays by ear, Knows 1000's of songs, Give me a yell,
