ABOUT

Band that plays Australian Hits
The duo known as The Widgee Brothers consists of two musicians who love to play Australian music. Growing up in Australia, the duo’s members, Robert Brock and Ronald Junggeburt, developed a deep appreciation of all forms of Australian music; rock, folk, country, and adult contemporary. Making music their life, they played in various bands, taught music, wrote music courses, wrote their own songs, and recorded albums.
The Widgee Brothers go by the stage names Rocky and Rolly Widgee, and perform many of the rock, pop, folk and country hit songs written and performed by Australia’s own talented artists.
Having developed their own unique sound, they present an upbeat vibe that has landed them a 5 Star rating from a recent performance.
Rocky plays rhythm guitar and sings, while Rolly plays lead guitar and does back up vocals. With an original backing track created by the duo, the band has it’s own unique sound, especially when performing self-penned original songs, sounds of the Dreamtime, and a small set of pioneering ballads, all in the spirit of a Down Under theme. Overseas visitors and impassioned Aussies of all ages are particularly impressed by their repertoire.

Robert Brock started out in a rock band at age 13. Musical performance accolades since then include three solo albums, signed to Larrikin Records, performances at Expo 88, and a Sunnie Award.

Ronald Junggeburt has played in numerous bands, and has performed at Tamworth, and at the Gympie Muster. He has had many musical adventures with his American musician friends [The Eagle Mountain String Band], having played to both American audiences, and at local SE QLD venues. Ron was president of the Widgee Country Music Club for three years, where he worked closely with Queensland legends, The Webb Brothers.
As a new generation takes hold of the future, Australian music is needed more than ever to remind Aussies, and our many international tourists, of our talent, skills, culture and history, all reflected in our own home-grown Australian songs.
