ABOUT

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR: I have been doing reasonably well releasing my original music [see my bio below] but I don’t want to play solo anymore. I want to play with other real live musicians! I sing, play acoustic guitar, lead guitar, bluegrass banjo, fiddle and blues harp. I’m looking for one or two musicians to join me as “Phil Salter & The Stockade" (or “The Stockage Sessions Band” T.B.C) I would need at least one acoustic guitar player at a moderate to advanced level, that can sing harmony and unison vocals. Any other acoustic stringed instruments they might play e.g. mandolin, fiddle, banjo, (or any instruments listed above under "Seeking") would be advantageous.

The music will be my own originals (that often get called “Alternate Country”) combined with some “jamming” sessions with some Irish Fiddle, Bluegrass Banjo, Country Pickin’/instrumental guitar. The idea is a casual vibe, like you might find if you walked into an Irish pub, or any folk, bluegrass jam session. There will also country, folk covers of county artists like James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bruce Springsteen (Seeger Sessions Band), Bob Dylan, John Denver, John Williamson, Jimmy Buffett, Jim Croce, Kris Kristofferson, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, The Highwaymen, Leonard Cohen.

Once a line up is established, hopefully three of us, I imagine it will take some time, a good number of rehearsal sessions to get the whole thing to gel, until we get "the vibe”. Once that is achieved we’ll hopefully pick up some gigs!

PHIL SALTER BIO: Phil Salter is one of those rare South Australians in that for some forty five plus years he has made music his life and career and has been making music since 1972, singing, playing acoustic and electric guitars, 5 String Bluegrass Banjo, Blues Harp and some pretty bad fiddle!

Phil’s work as a singer songwriter has picked up steam in the last few years with his independent releases of his own songs “Genoa’s Set”, “Burn Down The Mountain”, and “Long White Line” in 2022, “Something Special” and “Big Surprise” in 2023, “Can’t See For Looking” in 2024, and “Fields Of Dreams in January 2025.

Phil’s original songs have been getting a considerable amount of airplay on community and internet radio throughout Australia and worldwide including Nashville USA, New Zealand, The Netherlands and the UK. Phil was recently approached by a Nashville record company, so he is clearly heading in the right direction!

Phil’s November 2024 release “Can’t See For Looking” made to #8 on the “Australian Country Chart” his latest release “Fields Of Dreams” in January 2025 peaked at #7. Currently Phil is doing a lot of general publicity work including recent interviews with radio stations in Massachusetts and North Carolina USA and is recording new songs for release around October 2025.

EQUIPMENT

I have an EVOLVE50M column PA which can cope with any bar, club, coffee lounge type venue. Vocalists would need to provide their own quality microphone (think Shure SM 58 as a minimum), mic stand and leads.

All of my instruments are of a very good to high quality.
