HEY EVERYONE

My band Penalty (from Frankston Vic) is looking for a new drummer!
Penalty is a Punk/Riot Grrrl/Hard rock/ Experimental band, we take influence from bands like Sonic Youth, Led zeppelin, Dead Kennedys and David Bowie. We know that a lot of the musicians in Frankston play metal music, nothing against metal of course but we just want to reiterate that we’re a punk band not a metal band

We’re based in Frankston but tend to do gigs all around Melbourne. At the moment we’re getting gigs quite consistently around 1-2 a week which also means doing about 2 practices a week on average so we’re looking for someone who is very committed and has a schedule that is open enough for this or can adapt to this (the last thing we want to do is be turning down good opportunities.)

We’re all very big into music and want to take the band as far as we possibly can and we’re looking for people who will also make it a top priority. Before applying consider whether you’d be willing to go on tours/ play gigs multiple times a week.

We’re also looking for someone who is committed to helping run our social media as it’s mainly how we get new opportunities, we want this to be a job that is evenly divided between everyone (if this is something you haven’t done before that is completely ok we’re happy to share the knowledge we have)

We love collaborating on writing new music and do it as often as we can

Everyone in our band is aged 18-19 so we’re looking for someone similar in age, anywhere between 18-22 is perfect

We practice at the fresh amplify studio at Ebdale Community hub which has a whole drum kit provided so no need to bring any equipment except sticks

We’re all very friendly people and while we’re very committed to making music and being successful we want to have fun while doing so

We also would prefer a female or non binary drummer as we’re a bit of a riot grrrl band and we know that a lot of the time people who aren’t male are generally not given as many opportunities in music, but of course all genders are welcome

if you haven’t been in a band before that’s no reason to not give it go we’d still be more than happy to have you
