ABOUT

I am keen to collaborate with anyone interested in Irish folk and other kinds of traditional - but played with a modern edge - music.

I play the accordion mainly; but I am also confident on the piano. Other instruments I play for fun. occasionally.

10 years now. I particularly enjoy accompanying singers - I don't really mind what they're singing. Although I play with other people regularly, I do not have much experience with public performance, which I am keen to expand on.

What I enjoy most is playing songs that might not have made it on to the piano before - and seeing what they sound like there.

I cannot sight-read music with fluency; however, I do have a reasonable ear, can read simple notation and will always take the time to figure out songs in advance of practice sessions. I do sometimes put my own twist on the things I play. But when I am playing with someone else this is tailored to what I think would suit them. I will always listen to suggestions and get a feel for what other people want.

So if you want a considered and original-sounding accompaniment or contribution to your group - please contact me.

Influences

I like making old songs new again, and I like many modern artists who play with an eye or two turned towards the folk tradition.
