ABOUT

I've been engineering and producing since the early eighties, live and in the studio and have had several 'real' studios in that time. Eventually, my computer expertise led to new adventures when I recognised the potential of the Internet in 1991 and that, followed by kids starting in 2005 slowed the music down a bit. I learned guitar late (in my 40's) and am more a rythym-and-sing guy than anything else, but am getting back into it and don't mind putting some extra at-home time in to make up for lack of experience/technique. I have good gear, can pull a great sound and am a disciplined team player in a band situation.

Just starting to dabble in bass but want to turn more attention to that side.

Influences

Pre-Punk (Garage, British Invasion, Pub Rock), Punk (Aussie, UK, USA), Post Punk (Jangle Pop, EDM, Grunge) and all things in between. Hung out in the Sydney 80's scene (Birdman, Tribesmen, Lime Spiders, The Saints/Ed, Angels, Gurus, Mentals, Triffids, GOB's, Died Pretty, New Christs, et al as a punter, roadie, mixer, producer and occasional contributor and love all that indie stuff to play, but equally enjoy older and newer stuff in the same vein, through Ramones, Replacements, REM, Iggy, Smiths, New Order, Uncle Tupulo, Lucinda, Whiskeytown, Weezer, Fountains of Wayne, noFX and even Fallout Boy, Panic!, Gorillaz, et al.

Love doing a Punk/Grunge/Motown arrangement of anything from Sinatra (both of 'em) to Steely Dan or Kylie; I'm in love with 'the song' and love starting there and adding 4-on-the-floor and some crunchy Marshall, or totally stripping back an overblown EDM track to showcase its unplugged greatness :-)
