ABOUT
Miguel Alejandro Espinoza Paredes is a Jazz guitarist, songwriter and aspiring producer originally based in Peru, Lima now residing in Perth, Australia. Music has always been part of his life; he was always listening to whatever came up in the radio or whatever cassette or CD his mum decided to put next in the stereo speaker. Later in his life, he got his first acoustic guitar (that still uses it to this very day) just to learn a couple of riffs. He never thought he was going to use it to study music. So now he is studying at WAAPA music conservatory to achieve his Diploma of Jazz Music with the hopes of evolving his musicianship and repertoire as well as having a deep understanding of the music industry.
Even though he studies Jazz, Miguel is always trying to expand his horizons by trying to blend other music styles from other types of music as he thinks that Jazz seems to be a gateway for endless possibilities in terms of combining styles due to the harmonic and rhythmic functions Jazz implements. Inspired by many of the Peruvian guitarists such as Oscar Avilés, Willy Barclay and western guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Tommy Emmanuel. Meaning his music is rooted on the Blues and Psychedelic rock while also implementing acoustic/percussive elements with an upbeat danceable sound.
