Mary debuted onto the Music Scene at the age of 21 with "Freak", and "I'm Here For You" and had recorded more than 30 original songs. When Mary was about to extensively tour adversity struck when a cyst was found on her vocal chords.

Mary was told that she may lose the ability to sing again which was incredibly devastating for her as music is the centre of Mary's life. Indeed, it was Mary's dream to one day become one of the leading contemporary recording artists. So, unfazed by this dire prognosis, Mary briefly reverted to modelling on television, commercial and fashion in Manila.

In the face of such an ordeal Mary called on her fierce determination to battle this head on. After 3 years of specialists, therapy and various medical options the cyst significantly diminished and Mary's surgeon and allied health professionals gave her the all clear to return to singing. Indeed, the outcome was not only Mary returning to singing but with a new-found wisdom that made her future performances in front of an audience even more captivating. Mary had become a performer like no other, a performer who could feel the emotion and the personality that a song had within it and project that towards her audience in a way that has made Mary Emme completely unique.

Mary loves singing, it is in her blood, and, as Mary says it nourishes her soul. Whatever the genre that Mary performs such as traditional pop, rhythm and blues, dance, rock, hip hop, rap and jazz, Mary is able to draw from this repertoire and communicate these musical styles that bear unmistakable Mary Emme signature.
