Luís Reys is FAAM Music School graduated, in São Paulo, have completed the Professional Guitar Course at Conservatorium Souza Lima, which is a Berklee College (Boston-USA) partner school and one of the most prestigious institutions in Brazil Music Education.
Acting professionally since 2000, Luis has been working as a Music Educator, Music Producer, Composer, live Performance and studio recordings.
Luis studied guitar with some Brazilian Masters as Lupa Santiago, Jarbas Barbosa, Kiko Moura, Paulo Tiné and others high profiled musicians . In addition studied acoustic guitar, mandolin and “Viola Caipira” ( a brazilian rustic country guitar)
Performances and/or recordings in Brazil with: Márcio Montarroyos, Sylvinho Mazzuca Jr., Duda Neves, Michel Freidenson, Tetê Espíndola, Simoninha, Lívia Nestróvski, Zé Miguel Wisnik, Filipe Catto, Vinicius Calderoni, Chico Saraiva, Leo Cavalcanti, Carlos Rennó, Tó Brandileone, Yaniel Matos, Pipo Pegoraro, to name a few.
In 2003, worked with a brazilian play theater Gianfrancesco Guarnieri, one of the most important actors in Brazil, playing electric guitar live in a Play called "O Pequeno Livro Das Páginas Em Branco" (“The small book of empty pages”) touring 10 months in Brazil
In 2004 joined the band of the famous Brazilian drummer Duda Neves.
Since then, Luis has played with several groups from different music styles as: Homem do Brasil Band, which mix Rock with Brazilian Indian Traditional music, Fabio Cardia Quartet, contemporary instrumental music, playing acoustic and electric guitar and mandolin, singer Daniel Mã and Na Roda band, which researches Traditional Brazilian music.
As Educator, Luis teaches at Conservatorium Souza Lima since 2004 and since 2009 in São Paulo Council Public Program “Programa Vocacional” (Vocational Program), which trusted on him a pedagogical and artistic coordinator position since 2013, teaching musical creativity in poor communities intending to develop critical thinking and personal knowledge.
Luis Reys is currently studying a Masters Degree in Music at Australian Institute of Music (AIM), in Sydney, Australia. His research is about Music Education and some new ways to use improvisation to teach composition.
