Kim Lawson originally hailing from Cairns is one of Sydney’s top of the heap young saxophonists, performing regularly with some of Sydney most prominent musicians. In 2005 Lawson graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the teachings of some of the most distinguished musicians in Australian jazz. Cole Lachnan, Dale Barlow, Craig Scott, Warwick Alder, Dave Panichi, Darryl Pratt and Judy Bailey, just to name a few. Furthering his studies on the saxophone in 2008 spent time in New York, where Kim had private lessons with such heavy weights as George Garzone, David Binney and Donny McCaslin. Kim has since released 2 albums under his own name which featured renowned virtuoso bassist Steve Hunter and powerhouse drummer James Hauptmann.
