Hi people, I first picked the guitar at the age of 8 and didn't put it down until I drop out of school at 15 then from then on until about 2 years ago, I didn't practice or play as much as I wanted to what should have due to working full-time.
2 years ago I decided to take time off work (thanks to rona) I still am hahaha, I made a vow to pick up the guitar again and never put it down ever again because I had no excuse to not have it in my hands.
But this time round I approached it all from a different side of things because I already knew how to play chords, read tabs and learn songs myself so what I did was not practice/learn songs blah blah.
I decided to learn music as a whole and incorporate it onto the guitar, so I pretty much mainly just researched music theory and only researched the guitar side of things to transpose to guitar, out of the last 18-20 months besides the previous 6 months or so Im lucky to have even played the guitar 3 months of that in total it was more as i said studying theory like keys and relative minors, all the relations, what notes are in what key (circle of fifths) ect.
So basically I found out that in my earlier years I was only taught to play a guitar so then I taught myself how to play the guitar as a whole with knowing the fretboard, intervals and all that's stuff.
So where i am at now with my guitar skills, I can now improvise to any song in any key and sound good so the last few months I have now focused not only on ear training myself properly with the guitar in hand but I have started learning how to use my vocals, I had a couple of singing lessons just covid 19 hit because as every great lead guitarist knows that to become a decent to great lead guitarist you need to know how to sing why you ask? *for the ones who don't know but common sense* because you don't actually "play the guitar" you sing through the guitar!
I have also started writing my own music and lyrics.
Anyway I'll finish with say; firstly, if you've read to this point? Well done and thank you because I tend to keep going and not stopping when writing hahaha.
Secondly, im looking to and am interested plus very keen to find fellow musicians from all and any area of the industry and any instrument to jam with, to feed off and learn other areas of music to broader my knowledge and not to mention teach and share my knowledge.
So if anyone wants to share their hobby of music and Instrument as i do or even if you're semi-professional anybody and everybody is welcome and if we find out we don't sound half bad together im all for creating/starting a band or a group.
Last but not least I am also set up with music production software and all that for recording because i have every intention of transforming my hobby into a career in the future on my own or with a group which my construction life will finance, hopefully I didnt blabber too much and I've intrigued you all and look forward to hearing from you.
