I was trained as a jazz guitarist but have played a lot of rock and blues along the way. My preferences with regards to rock are songs from my generation.
I am not familiar with the current top 40 or the who's who of 21st century rock.
I also play bass - in fact I probably play more bass than guitar. I can play the double bass but at present I don't have an instrument. For the right band I would buy a double bass. It would take me about a month to get my chops in order.
Likewise with the sax (although I do own an instrument my chops are not in shape. A month or so.)
I should mention that with the sax I am good for the odd sax solo but I could not front a band, ala Kenny G, on the saxophone.

Jazz - the usual bebop influences.

I favour melody over flash although I am capable of flash.
Many of my influences are from instruments other than guitar.

EQUIPMENT
Fender Tele - modified. This is my main Rock n' Roll guitar. I have many other instruments including an Aria Pro II archtop which is my primary jazz guitar.
Likewise for bass; several quality instruments.
I have several amps, a small P.A. suitable for cafes and restaurant gigs.
