WEST AUSTRALIAN REGGAE & ROOTS COMPOSER SEEKS PERCUSSIONIST & BASSIST  

Hi there, my name is Darren and I perform around WA playing reggae & roots originals and some covers under my last name Guthrie. I am currently looking to take on a percussionist and bassist for shows in 2018 :D! 

The percussionist and bassist should be:
- over 18 years of age, preferably 21+
- have own transport and quality music equipment
- be reliable, professional and dedicated to the project
- be an all round decent fun person who enjoys travelling and is 420 friendly
- have a love of Reggae, Roots, Rock & Blues

I currently perform with some great guys in the Trio but their work demands mean they do not have the time for the Trio that is needed. This has at times caused an inability to accept great opportunities to perform. However there are some huge opportunities in the future already emerging , thus the need to work toward a new revised Trio.

Show sets are generally two one hour sets or three forty five minute sets. Most shows are generally paid however a part of being paid is being able to commit to regular rehearsals (- once a fortnight as a usual, and once a week for peak season/tours). Some shows  like local community festivals and charity gigs etc are not paid, but it is still worthwhile to be a part of them. There are future plans for some tours. I will be touring AU again in 2018 as a solo act but there is the potential for a possible New Zealand tour as the new Trio and then probably a national tour in 2019. There will probably be a WA Trio tour in 2018. I currently play all over WA from Onslow to Esperance so it would be awesome to take the new Trio on the road and make some great memories. I also usually play one of the main slots at the Nimbin MardiGrass Protestival each year and this could possibly be an avenue for the Trio as well at some point.

To tour you need to enjoy music, enjoy travelling, and be willing to invest in your art. Tours cost money  so if you wish to tour - you would need to invest some funds. However you will also make funds from the tour and I always plan to come out ahead rather then just break even. You should also make enough funds from the trio to be able to invest in tours. Tours also mean you need to not be too tied down between work, family etc. 

If you play in another act, there is no problem, however if you are too busy, not available and unable to commit to rehearsals and regular shows then please do not apply. If you play in another act on the odd occasion or for fun, this should not be a problem. I just need to know you are professional and if I book a gig, that I can count on you to rehearse for it with the band, rehearse the tunes by yourself and also be able to fully commit to the show as a professional musician. I hope to be booking 2 Trio shows a month during summer, spring and autumn, with some months having a few more for tours. The winter months usually quieten off to a show maybe once a month or once every two months. Fortnightly rehearsals would still be required during this period.

Seeds of Change was recorded at my mixing studio â??Sativa Soundsâ?? by myself and then mastered by Ian Pritchett from Noisegate Studios (Ian is responsible for The Beautiful Girls, a couple of Angus & Julia Stone singles, Boo Seeka and more). The artwork for the album was done by the incredible TROG who has done artwork for Seattle Hempfest, HighTimes, Slightly Stoopid, Offspring & more. These are some of the tunes you would be performing, along with some new originals and some covers :)
