Hi I’m Genevieve I’m a Jazz vocalist from New Zealand and I just wanted to introduce myself as I’ll be moving over to Melbourne in May.
Here in NZ I front a 7 piece Jazz fusion band called the Turing Project and will be sad to leave my awesome band but am looking forward to meeting new people and having new musical adventures in the land of OZ.
I sing in English, French and Portuguese and have a very extensive repertoire. I have existing fulll band arrangements all scored and also semi arranged lead sheets in my vocal keys. As the Turing Project our repertoire consisted of Jazz Fusion arrangements of Top 40 tunes spanning the decades from 1920’s-2020’s
I also had a group called Skylark Trio where we would do straight ahead Jazz/Swing/French Chanteuse and Bossa Nova music.

I have a degree in Jazz performance and am fairly adept at performing in the genres of Roots, Trad, Gospel, Blues, Country, Swing, Jazz, Soul, RnB, and Pop. I'm a closeted musical theatre geek who couldn't dance so I studied to be a Jazz singer instead and probably ended up becoming way cooler because of it.

I’d love to form or join an existing small group for hotel and bar residencies. I'm interested in doing cocktail lounge, cabaret and theatre.

I definitely plan to be attending lots of live gigs when I arrive and while I do have a handful of friends in this city I’m always open to meeting new people and would love to meet up with anyone keen to attend gigs together. I’m aware of the Jazz Lab (which I missed last time I was here) and Paris Cat and I’ve joined a few facebook groups but any recommendations and invitations for Jazz gigs or anything else would be most welcome.
