We are currently seeking additional players for our Sydney Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) for the following parts: Trombone, Drums, Guitar and Baritone Sax.
All SYJO players need to commit to regular weekly rehearsals and performances. We have a lot of fun and play at great events throughout the year but commitment is a must!
SYJO rehearses weekly (Wednesday 6.45pm - 8.15pm) in a purpose-built rehearsal room at Jazz Workshop Australia's venue in St Leonards. SYJO performs at least once a term at many well known, reputable Jazz events including the Merimbula Jazz Festival, the Manly Jazz Festival as well as other Sydney and regional performance events. SYJO provides an opportunity for high school aged and university students to play dynamic jazz repertoire with a group of highly-motivated young musicians from all over Sydney. Our conductor is the highly regarded jazz music educator, Saul Richardson. Please contact Saul at infosyjo.org to organise an audition.
