ABOUT

Hey, I’m Dave – drummer based in Cairns (originally from Melbourne), with close to 30 years of live and studio experience. I also run a local drum school.

I’ve played everything from rock, prog and metal to pop, funk and fusion. I naturally lean toward the heavier/progressive side – stuff with interesting grooves and room for feel – but I’m into anything that has energy and feels good.

Open to the right band or happy to jump in for gigs and recording sessions. Totally comfortable with clicks, backing tracks and structured sets.

I also play bass and rhythm guitar, and I’ve spent a lot of time recording and mixing. My home studio is acoustically treated and kitted out for recording, rehearsals and mixing, with solid gear and full PA.

Lately I’ve been into Animals As Leaders, Karnivool, Meshuggah, Night Verses, Plini, Victoria, Portraits, Deftones, Vulkan, Wheel, Tigran Hamasyan and Hiromi – anything with interesting rhythms and a bit of edge.
