ABOUT

I’m a band/studio muso who started playing around the same time Annie Lennox or Lene Lovich did. I’ll have a go at singing any style..would like to do both back-up and lead vocal tracks. I’m also a guitarist..been playing since o was 11..but just gettting the connection to the old muse back into action.

I’d love to find a group of ego-unchallenged, experimental, multi-skilled electronic and dedicated instrument and vocal muzos to join a soul music school of like-minded fish with.

Influences

Too many to name over 50years..
I grew up in my late 70s childhood learning eg. A complete Bowie repertoire ..all of Joan Armatrading’s lexicon, Ronstadt, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Promises, Then came disco. Every funk/disco track exploded in my mind..Eg. KC, Amy Stewart, Of it was on Soul Train..I absorbed it..then ABBA..then Grandmaster Flash and Cameo..Lene Lovich..new age..New Order, Flocknod Seagulls..Culture Club, Madonna..Missong Person..the Go Go’s arrived..followed by the Bangles later..Hoodoo GurusC Shriekback..then house started permeating..Superfly Guy and all of S-Express in the late 80s, Kraftwork..Gary Numan earlier 80s..and everything coming out of that electronic pop genre.

I got hugely into Monie Love and then, moved into early 90s rave and rock..starting earlier with Melody MC, Culture Beat, the Headless Chickens and Technotronic ..on high rotation in the early 90s were ‘electro-gay tracks’ like ‘man 2 man’ euro beat and most dead or alive ..i went through a lot more change stages in the early 2000s and the teens..Ministry of Sounds annuals informed taste..as well as some devotion to guitar vocalists of the era..and Kylie, Dee-light/Towa Tei..and it goes on..I did love the whole Manchester Blur/Oasis period earlier obviously too..plus the evolution of that into the Verve and britpop/rock of that era. Republica was a bit of a one-hit wonder I thought had more to offer. Irish rock/pop/experimental electro led me through boomtown rats/Bono and co..then there was Sinead, Roisin and Moloko..Goldfrapp slickly contrasting, with the same tech..and different themes and vibes..

I could so..go on in more detail..through the next 20 years of emo-vocal and guitar/effect influences..but will leave it there for brevity.
