ABOUT

I’m a 44 year old drummer with solid gear and years of playing experience.

I’m available most nights and weekends around family commitments and keen to join a rock band that’s ready to rehearse with purpose and play regular pub or event gigs.

My timing is consistent, and I’m comfortable playing to backing tracks and a click.

I play for the song, keep the groove steady, and bring a positive, no-drama attitude to every rehearsal and gig.

After a session, I’m always up for a couple of beers and a good laugh.

Influences

You’ll usually find me jamming along to Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Twenty One Pilots, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses, Nickelback, Smashing Pumpkins, Paul Kelly, Cranberries and pretty much anything in the 90s–00s rock lane. I like to keep things tight and consistent, so I run tracks through my SPD SX with a click in my ears.

EQUIPMENT

My main kit is a DW PDP 4PCE kit.

I also have a Pearl Export kit converted into a hybrid electronic setup using a Roland drum module and drum triggers under the mesh heads. With this setup, I can switch from Tre Cool’s punchy Green Day kit to Chad Smith’s Red Hot Chilli Peppers sound at the flick of a switch—and it genuinely sounds great.

The kit can run through an amp or straight into a mixer for full volume control, so you’re not getting blasted by acoustic drums in smaller rooms.

I’ve got Zildjian/Paiste cymbals for live gigs if needed, but the Roland cymbals are surprisingly sweet and work well in most situations.

I use a Roland SPD?SX for samples, backing tracks, and click tracks.

For rehearsals, I’ve also got a Roland TD?9 electronic kit—quick to set up, quick to pack down, and perfect for tight spaces or quieter sessions.
