I'm an experienced guitarist and have been playing acoustic, classical and electric guitar for over 50 years off and on.
In the last few years I joined a studio band "Cusapepi" with similarly aged 50s / 60s guys who like me had never been in band before.
With them I have been writing, recording and releasing our own original songs. In this project I've also been forced to step up and sing lead and backing vocals so have improved my previously limited capability significantly. Our practice sessions are on Saturday afternoons, but I have recently retired so now have a bit more time available now to jam / gig elsewhere at other times too, ideally weekdays. I also play and sing backing vocals each month at my local church for some live experience - not really "gigs" as such but we have to practice a set of 7 songs each time to present. I'm flexible to just jamming for fun or potentially doing something more ongoing if it is relatively nearby.
