ABOUT

Hey people,

Currently looking to jam with some musicians in the Preston/Thornbury/Northcote area. Ideally looking for an able drummer/percussionist and a bass player. Some electronic elements in the mix could be interesting.

I've had experience playing guitar in bands in the past and you could check those out on Bandcamp; Kill the Matador - 'Flight and Terror' EP and ''The Mannequin Citizen' LP. They were quite some time ago now, but I guess it is pretty much punk rock with metal influences - is it crossover? I don't know. Genres are useful to a point, but pigeonholing is not my thing.

Hopefully the jams could merge into material to perform at some point - who knows? Right now, it would be good just to get involved with something and see what happens - instrumental band perhaps? I've most recently jammed with friends at Crosstown studios in Preston and can vouch for the people there. Reasonably priced too.

Influences

Sheesh, where to begin. This is going to be an imbroglio mess.I came up on a pretty steady diet of metal and punk rock, so these are an indelible part of my musical blood stream - the usual gateway suspect bands of 'Tallica (strictly 80s!), Iron Maiden, Tool, Rush, RATM, Fugazi but also smaller groups like Propagandhi, Against Me!, I-Spy etc. Also influenced by a lesser known instrumental band called Giant Sons who have since reformed under the name of Agassiz - check out Pulse 1A if you like.

I'd like to say my influences have branched out a bit since my Hetfield led induction into playing music. Big fan of Radiohead and really anything Thom Yorke has put his hands on, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The War on Drugs, Sun Kil Moon, Nick Cave (Skeleton Tree was emotionally heavy and phenomenal), Fink, Nick Drake etc. Also a big fan of Death Grips - I personally think they're one of the most interesting and experimental acts out there right now.
