ABOUT

I play bass and synth. Sometimes both at the same time.

Bass: Played for 25 years now. Always have a bass around the house for whenever the whim takes me and still do a little practice (scales etc) now and then.

Synth: Peaked a bit in the early 2000's with a band called the Grand Silent System. Kinda Prog Rock stuff but I've never considered myself a piano player, always more about the synth tone than piano style.

Looking to play with people wanting to experiment with some more interesting things (prog, weird electronic, etc). 12 bar blues jams can fu*k right off.

More interested in getting together and doing some writing over gigs, but thats not out of the question.

Not looking to making this a job. I've got a really good one of those so I don't need another.

Generally very free for time on the weekends and a fair bit in the evenings.

Influences

Bass:
Funk-ish but not full blown Jazz (Early Jamiroquai, Fishbone, Red Hot Chilli Peppers before about '96)
Still stuck in the 90's rock (Soundgarden, Alice in Chains etc).

Synth:
I actually don't have very many Synth influences exactly. Maybe Roddy Bottom from Faith No More. I tend to think of a synth in a band like another guitarist. You can take lead, you can play supporting chords, you can follow a bass line, play weird sh*t as effects, or a mix of any of those.
Just no piano bits, that sh*t is boring.

Just general influences off the top of my head:
Battles, Animals as Leaders, Death Grips, Cornelius, Bowie, Fishbone, Living Colour, The Mars Volta, Brian Eno, Squarepusher, Tom Waits, King Crimson, Prince, NIN, Massive Attack...........this might take a while, you get the picture.

EQUIPMENT

Bass:
Markbass 2x10 combo amp
Musicman Stingray 4 Stealth Black (aka the sexiest bass on the planet)
Stingray Sub tuned BEAD (Pseudo 5 string)
Early 90's Ibanez with Midi pickup
Fretless Fender Squire Jazz bass (Surprisingly good for a Squire)

Synth:
Various rack synths including old school Korg 01/W rack, Roland XV5050, Nord Modular and Roland System 1M.

The rack tends to get changed around a bit so apart from the 01/W it's always in a state of flux.
