About Behzad Ansari and Avaye Rood ensemble
Avaye Rood Ensemble was founded by Behzad Ansari in 2006. Behzad Ansari is studying Doctorate of Creative Arts at UOW. The band recorded and performed at many festivals and venues in Iran and other countries.
The Ensemble has performed some of Behzad's original compositions, and songs from other Iranian musicians arranged by Avaye Rood. Avaye Rood means "sound of the river" and also an old Iranian musical instrument is like the lute. Members of Avaye Rood play Classical Iranian instruments including, santoor, tar,setar, kamancheh, Gheychak, tonbak , daf and oud. Each instrument has musical cousins maybe you recognize in Western practice, but the opportunity to see these closely and hear the differences in tone and style is fascinating.
In the new arrangement of our band, we have bass guitar and drums as well.
