ABOUT

I am a vocalist/songwriter seeking some playmates for mischief and mayhem! I am a baritone with an extremely deep, powerful and unique voice with a very broad range. My tastes in music are eclectic and thus I have a broad palate and a very diverse resume of influences. I can easily go from clean Choirboy/balladeer type vocals to raspy grungy/metal/punk. I am able to keep pace, pitch-perfect with most well known rock front men, the only two I ever really struggled with, (on the high end of the spectrum) from memory, were Freddy Mercury and the late, great Chris Cornell. Growing up, it took me a long time to find my OWN voice, instead of aping/emulating my idols (as I am a good mimic and also quite good with different accents) But eventually in my late 20's I found myself and I am now comfortable and confident enough that my own unique voice is good enough and thus can move foreword.

I am seeking other musicians who are equally as committed to taking things as far as possible, and I am prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve this. I know that success within the industry does not come easy (especially these days) and I have a very strong work ethic, and will be only satisfied when I know I have given my best. I am also an avid lyricist, and have much, much material that is yet to be put to music. I would love the chance to collaborate with others and put these lyrics to good use. I was, until recently, busking part time, and doing occasional open mic nights solo acoustic. But as I am only a mediocre rhythm guitarist, I know where my talents lie and would rather just focus on my lyrics and vocals whilst working alongside accomplished musicians. I recently had all my gear (2 guitars, amps and mics/pedals) stolen, so unable to continue solo, I figured what the hell, perhaps this was an omen that the time is nigh to move beyond solo and pursue my real goal. Although I do love raw, earthy acoustic style music, my ultimate goal/calling is a full 2-guitar hard-Rock/metal (especially psychedelic & stoner rock/metal) band, as I believe I can really hold my own as a screamer!

Yeah, I talk a big game, but I have the pipes to back it up. I am very keen to find other musicians who are equally as confident and capable with their own chosen instruments, so that we can all work together to bring out the best in each other collectively as a team. I am easy-going, flexible, open to suggestion (not an arrogant/narcissistic fu*ker!) and appreciate that a band's success/longevity relies on far more than talent and work ethic alone.

I am punctual, reliable, adaptable and extremely motivated and driven. I have an engaging stage presence and can keep punters entertained between songs. For a song to grab my attention it either has one of three qualities: 1) Riff/melody/beat 2) Powerful vocals 3) amazing lyrics. To hear one is enough. to hear2 is awesome. To hear all 3 in the same song is rare and means that band has something really special. I seek to be among the latter. I grew up with my mum taking me to Port Fairy Folk Festival for 5 years in a row, and I grew to love folk because the songs lyrics told a story. (Think Redgum's "I was only nineteen" or Don McLean's "American Pie" I am BIG on lyrics, and would love help to bring them to life! Three lyricists I admire and consider my "big 4" lyricists/songwriters (not necessarily vocalists, but songsmiths) are Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Chris Cornell (okay, Cornell's vocals are freakin' AMAZING, lol!)

Okay, enough diatribe. I just like to give a detailed illustration of my vision, as I don't wish to waste anyone's time, nor have my own spent pursuing a dead end. So, if you are keen to see what kind of chemistry we have/can create, I am flexible and available with little notice, as I am super pumped to begin what I should have a long, long time ago. I currently reside in North Melbourne

Influences

Old 60's/70's stuff like Zepplin, Stones, Sabbath, Beatles, Queen, Floyd (Especially Floyd!) A child of the grunge generation, was mainly influenced in my teens by the likes of Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Tea Party - ( a HUGE influence. I was fortunate enough to meet Tea Party frontman Jeff Martin in Dec 2015, and discussed him producing my solo album, as he now lives in Byron Bay and moonlights as a producer) Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Cake, Butthole Surfers, Kyuss, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Jack White/Stripes Tool, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica (huge fan) and also an avid fan of European instrumental Stoner/Psychedelic rock/metal.
