ABOUT

Ambition Road is the music project of David Truong, a totally blind singer-songwriter and keyboard/piano player based in Brisbane, Australia. Born in Vietnam and raised in Australia, David has lived a life shaped by resilience, creativity, and reinvention.

EARLY YEARS AND TRANSITION TO MUSIC
As a teenager, David discovered a passion for singing, songwriting, and piano playing, but also pursued a long sporting career, representing Australia in blind cricket and goalball. When his time in competitive sport drew to a close, he returned to his first love—music—and began writing and recording original songs.

In 2014, he joined Access Arts workshops, which gave him opportunities to perform and develop his craft. With encouragement, he launched his solo project Ambition Road in 2016 .

MUSICAL STYLE
Ambition Road’s sound is keyboard-driven, acoustic, reflective folk/soft-rock. David’s lyrics explore lost loves, heartbreak, “what ifs,” and life lessons gained through personal experiences. The music blends heartfelt storytelling with an intimate, melodic style .

RELEASES
Happy Laughter (2016) – The debut album, marking Ambition Road’s arrival on the Brisbane music scene.
Tainted Glasses (2020) – A mature, introspective follow-up, cementing David’s voice as a songwriter.
Third Album – Currently being recorded, with release planned for 2026 .

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Ambition Road has performed across Brisbane’s iconic venues including Ric’s Bar, The Junk Bar, The Bloodhound Bar, The Burrow (West End), and Blackbear Lodge .

The live project often expands into “Ambition Road and Friends,” featuring a rotating cast of musicians who help bring David’s originals and select covers to life .
