FEMALE VOCALIST WANTED
Hello, my name's Matty Whittle. I have played in many bands over the years, the best known of them being GOD, back in the late 80's. This year I have been busy writing and recording new material at a studio in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. It sounds like a band, but I'm playing all the instruments (guitars, bass and drums). I don't so much specialise in any one of the instruments, but I have a lot of experience in all of them. I've been making good progress with the music, and I'm a bit over the 3/4-way mark with recording the instrumental parts. So far I'm really thrilled and excited with how the music is coming along, and looking forward to what the future holds.
The plan is to finish recording an album with a new singer, and then to find a bassplayer and drummer (with me on guitar) so we can turn it into a 4-piece live band and carry on together with further writing and recording. The sound of the "band" is high energy, big rocky sound and guitar riffs, cool rhythmic grooves, with catchy poppy vocal tunes and hooks. Tight, yet a bit loose and "human" at the same time. And definitely a lot of fun. Not particularly like GOD, but would likely still appeal to those who appreciate that kind of style. Stylistically diverse and interesting, but also cohesive. Musical reference points and influences may include respected female artists such as PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Veruca Salt, Adalita, as well as various alternative rock 'n' roll of the last few decades, and also some other influences from 60's/70's/80's, including some left-of-centre stuff. But I'm aiming to develop our own unique sound that I'm confident will get a good response. I have lots of music happening, and some lyrics, with some diverse subject matter, some humour and sense of fun, but these things can be readapted to suit, depending on what a new singer would be comfortable with lyrically and musically.
I am looking for a fantastic vocalist to take part in finishing the recording with me, who would also be confident in fronting a live band when the time comes for that. Someone with really great pitch and melodic sense, who can carry a tune well, preferably in a medium to higher pitched range. I'm open-minded about sound and style. If you write material, then there would be opportunities for collaborating and working together on new numbers, and songs already in the works. I especially would need lyrics for some existing music ideas. If you play guitar or other instruments, that would be a bonus, but it's not necessary. If you have some recording and live experience, that would definitely be a plus.
Other info about me, I'm 52yo, happily married with 3 kids, with a blessed life and good physical and mental health. I used to teach instrumental music in the 90's, including at Rock 'n' Roll High School, these days I do online music retail. I live in the eastern suburbs (Croydon North), and I can travel pretty much anywhere in metro Melbourne. I am totally dedicated to seeing this project through to completion, and not planning to do any other music or side-projects.
