The Cilikis (pron Sy-li-kiss) are an independent three piece Instrumental heavy progressive fusion band looking for a very committed Saxophonist, Trumpet etc or Keyboardist instrument specialist who is interested in joining our band. We have been working together since 2009 and have released three albums; The latest being Anomaly EP in 2019.

WE are seeking expressions of interest from someone either the Gold Coast or Brisbane as we are located in both.

Our requirements for a musician to join our band is very high and we have devised an audition process that we will take you through should you feel you'd like to have a crack at it.

This band is our passion. We love to write complex instrumental music. You must be able to:

* Improvise! This very important!
* Be Prepared! This too is also very important!
* Reliable! This is also very important!
* Play against instruments tuned 1/2 step below concert pitch
* Handle odd time signature, poly and superimposed rhythms
* Multiple Key changes
* Be at least advanced level of your instrument/s and have complete command of them
* Read music (it would be advisable to be able to, but not required)
* Be able to play by ear (advisable)
* Able to memorise the music completely would be an advantage
* Dynamic and think on your feet
* Understand a bit about music theory and apply it when needed
* Have a good range of music appreciation
* Willing to commit to your part and OWN IT.
* Have good function equipment
* Own Transport and willing to rehearse in either Brisbane (Empire studios) or Rock City in Upper Coomera, Gold Coast

Please, NO beginners. We're looking for someone to hit the ground running, fast!

You have got to WANT to play this kind of music and be committed to wanting to join a band like this. We have families and jobs and we do this as a professional hobby to exercise our love of complex and interesting music but we are most deadly serious about this band, the music we create, the power and tone the band puts out on stage and performance of the entire unit as a whole.
